75 of 100 Happy Days: Past

Sometimes I wonder what it was like long, long before I was born. How different was it back then?  Would I have liked it?

Or perhaps they were all having the same thoughts. Going through the same joys, grief, fears and concerns. Same stories.

Ps.  Above is the photo of my mum’s ang pow packets from before her time. They were tiny as they only had to be filled with small amounts of money. One of the things that didn’t go smaller as they got newer.

This one has been bought all the way down from Penang.

April is NaPoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and I’m taking part once more. That’s 30 poems in a month. Now and then I will post a poem, perhaps. Wish me luck!

67 of 100 Happy Days: Chocolate cake

It’s no secret that I have a sweet tooth.  So when a colleague’s birthday cake is made of rich chocolate mousse with a thick and moist brownie base, dusted with cocoa powder, you know you’d get a rush of endorphins with every bite.

The cake is from a shop called La Manilla. It’s gorgeously soft and rich.  Some people find it too sweet but this is good in my books.

I have been unusually tired lately too. Kind of glad I didn’t need to drive home this evening.

There was a stall I’d never notice before selling coconut ice cream in the mini shell among with a cup of the coconut juice. Naturally I gave it a go. It’s delightfully refreshing.
